LST-134 unloading at low tide on the Sugar Red Sector of Utah Beach in Normandy, France on June 12, 1944. A barrage balloon can be seen floating over the ship. These were meant to act as a form of protection from low-flying aircraft attempting to dive-bomb or strafe landing forces.
