Title:
U.S.S. LST-1161 (U.S.S. Vernon County)
Object ID:
2017.009.158
Object Name:
Print, Photographic
Description:
Black & white print of a photograph showing LST-1161 (U.S.S. Vernon County) underway in an unknown port. LST-1161 is a member of the Terrebonne Parish Class LSTs and thus features some key differences from previous classes of the ships (see catalog item 2017.009.155 for summary). The main deck does not appear to be loaded though a large white screen can be seen set up at the aft end, possibly for showing movies to the crew. The ship's name and a copyright mark for Our Navy, Inc. are stamped in gold lettering near the bottom.
