Print, Photographic
Description:
Black & white print of a photograph showing LST-1154 (U.S.S. Tallahatchie County) anchored in an unknown location. LST-1154 is part of the LST-1153 Talbot County Class and thus features some key differences from the WWII-era LSTs. The most visually obvious difference are the superstructure, davits, and AA gun structures. The main deck holds several DUKWs. The ship underwent conversion and modifications in the early 1960s and in 1962 was reclassified as AVB-2 (U.S.S. Tallahatchie County), an Advance Aviation Base Ship. The ship's name and a copyright mark for Our Navy, Inc. are stamped in gold lettering near the bottom.
