Photograph of the battle-damaged LST- 577 after a Japanese submarine's torpedo attack off the Philippine coast on February 11, 1945. The photo was taken from LST Group 43 Flagship, USS LST-751. LST-577 ultimately sank due to this damage. The donor's father, Willmer D. Mette (Momm 1/c), served on the LST-751 during WWII.
