Official U.S. Marine Photograph

Photograph of a number of wounded Marines on cots in the tank deck of an unidentified LST while being transported to a base hospital during World War II. Exact ship, location, and date of photograph are all unknown. The back of the photograph features a small paragraph to provide context which makes note of the nickname of "Green Dragons" for LSTs due to their size, common camoflage paint scheme in the Pacific Theater, and large "mouth" at the bow with the doors and ramp. The description also incorrectly refers to LSTs as "barges".
