Object Name:
Print, Photographic
Description:
Black & white print of a photograph showing LST-887 (U.S.S. Lawrence County) moored alongside LST-846 (U.S.S. Jennings County) in an unknown location, most likely either in October of 1945 during Occupation operations in the "Far East" or while laid up with the Pacific Reserve Fleet in Astoria, OR between 1949 and late 1950. The main deck does not appear to be loaded, though a large segment of pontoon bridge or a barge is secured to the port side of the ship. While the port davit is empty, the starboard appears to be loaded with LCVPs. A large white screen has can also be seen set up on the main deck, possibly for showing movies. The ship's number is stamped in gold lettering near the bottom and a copyright mark for Our Navy, Inc. is printed in the bottom right corner.
