Title:
Landing Craft in Port
Object ID:
2016.274.07
Object Name:
Print, Photographic
Date:
1946
Description:
Print of a photograph showing a number of Landing Ship, Medium (LSM)s and the signal lamp for LST-980 (U.S.S. Meeker County) while in port in an unknown location. The LSMs shown include LSM-_97, LSM-400, and LSM-512 along with one or two other unidentifiable vessels (51 and 54?) in the background.
No information provided on where the original photograph was taken, but given the timing (1946) and landing craft present, the location seems most likely to be the Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek in Virginia.

Writing in pen on the back provides the caption "LST 980 1946" along with a watermark indicating the print was created by Walmart on 8/20/2014.
Place:
