A handwritten personal account of David Sorg and his experiences as a crewmember of the LST-896 when the ship experienced two separate typhoons in Buckner Bay (Nakagusuku Bay) off Okinawa in 1945. The first typhoon struck on the 16th of September and caused significant splitting of the ships main deck plates along with other damage. The second typhoon (Typhoon Louise) hit on October 5th and caused the ship to run aground on "Kudaka Jima", an island just southeast of the Bay. The ship suffered such extensive damage in the second typhoon that it was never fully repaired.
