Description:
Digital copy of a black and white photograph showing a several LSTs preparing for the invasion of Salerno, Italy on 13 September, 1943. The bows of four LSTs (landing ship, tank) can be seen with their doors open and ramps lowered for loading along the coast at Termini-Imerese, Sicily. Only two, LST-392 and LST-160, can be identified. Jeeps, vehicles, equipment, and soldiers can be seen on the beach while four barrage ballons are also visible overhead.
