Black & white photograph showing the bow of LST-4 as it unloads tanks onto shore via pontoon bridges. LCI-20 (Landing Craft, Infantry) can be seen beached in the background, with its stern section heavily damaged by a bomb from a German aircraft. Photo taken on or just after the 22nd of January, 1944 in Anzio, Italy (Operation Shingle). Taken from main deck of unspecified ship (possibly another LST).

Back of photo shows "Donald A. Peterson --- Served on LST 4 --- Landed on Normandy --- Served 1941-1945" written in pen.
