Description:
Black and white photograph of LST-282 sinking after being struck by a German radio-controlled bomb off the coast of St. Raphael in southern France. The photograph is taken from off the ship's starboard bow and shows the ship listing heavily to the starboard side with the main deck only feet above the water level. Several men can be seen standing on the main deck and what appears to be an LCVP (Higgin's Boat) or similar is visible at the stern of the ship.
