LST Photograph Collection : Photographs of all U.S. LSTs (Landing Ship, Tank) excluding LST-325
Title:
LST-230
Object ID:
2016.287.2
Object Name:
Print, Photographic
Date:
09/1945
Description:
A black and white photographic print of LST-230 resting on an unknown shore with bow doors open and ramp lowered and a large group of U.S. Navy personnel gathered in front of the vessel. While no information is provided as to when, where, or by whom the photograph was taken, the mottled paint scheme on the ship's hull and the partnering photograph (2016.287.1) indicate it may be from the ship's occupation service in the "Far East" in September of 1945. Alternatively, the presence of what appears to be LCT-587 on the ship's main deck suggests the photograph may have been taken during operations in the European Theater.
