Description:
Photograph of two men (Roscoe Jones & Chas Lythgoe), both shipyard workers or managers, performing a broom raising ceremony aboard LST-823 at the Evansville Shipyard on November 21, 1944 during World War II. The ceremony was performed when a ship made a "clean sweep" of its sea trials. The Evansville Shipyard was owned and operated by the Missouri Valley Bridge & Iron Co. Shipbuilding Division.

Information on the date and identities of the ship and men provided by official printing on back of photo. Reverse side also features "8957" (Negative No.) and "Lythgoe" written in pencil and a price sticker near one corner.
